IT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING

As your journey through high school has ended, you embark on your new lives. Whether it be college or the work force or the military - we wish all the graduates of the Class of 2009 good luck in all their future endeavors.

Thank you once again to the Senior Parent Committee for the time and effort expended to make sure that you, the Class of 2009, left Mark Keppel High School with wonderful memories. Many thanks to Mrs. Jill Gussman for taking on this enormous task of coordinating the parents group.

We hope that you all enjoyed the main event which took over a year of planning. With everyone's help and cooperation we were able to pull it off.

MESSAGE FROM JILL GUSSMAN, GRAD NIGHT CHAIR

2009 Senior Parents

Graduation and Grad Nite are just around the corner!! We are all eagerly looking forward to this memorable and hopeful time for all our Keppel Graduates!!
Our committee is aware of changes in the set up or program that are meant to enhance the dignity and pageantry of the Commencement. We feel the arrangement of the students relative to the podium and the invited guests, will still reflect the close community feel that is a big part of Mark Keppel High School.

We hope all our graduates and guests will be respectful of the commencement throughout.

The graduates have the choice to sit with their friends. This is being painstakingly arranged by a very hardworking and dedicated Senior Council. Kudos to them!
However, most of our parents and Administration would prefer alphabetical order.

Thank you for raising great kids! It has been a pleasure for those of us who have the opportunity to work with and be around them on campus, etc. Thank you for your support!

We hope all can feel great pride for our 2009 Graduates and Mark Keppel High School!

Jill Gussman

Thank you to the Talbots for hosting the Grad Night Parent Meeting on July 9, 2008.

Thank you also to Cyndi, Carol, and Lila for their guidance. They expressed some concerns that the Parent Committee will need to followup on.

The discussion continues as we explore the different venues. As mentioned in the previous blog, the survey of students will be used as a GUIDELINE in determining the final venue. There are several factors that require approval/consideration before that venue is finalized.

Parents present signed up for different tasks. Jill Gussman has agreed to Chair the event but is looking for someone to assist. Jim Kawahara will setup the spreadsheet and will work as Co-Treasurer.

Others:
Venue search & planning-Irene Jong, Leslie & Jim Kawahara
Corresponding Secretary-Kathy Ikeda
Digital Photo/Video-Herb Jew, David Ikeda, recruit seniors
Publicity/Signage-Leslie Kawahara, Kathy Ikeda, recruit seniors
Parent Contact/email/blogsite-Pat Ichiriu
Student/Parent Data Management-TBD
On Campus Grad Night Reps-Jill Gussman, Irene Jong, Sharon Woo, Leslie Kawahara, Joanie Park, David Ikeda

There are still numerous jobs that need to be filled and we are still seeking volunteers.

You or your senior's service toward Grad Night earns PTSA Community Service Hours. Document your volunteer hours.

Many fundrasing opportunities were discussed which included cookie sales, dinner, craft show participation during November (preferably kids, clothing, decor gift item to make & sell), bowlathon, Cherry Blossom, In 'n Out, etc.

PLEASE JOIN US AT THE NEXT MEETING AS WE CONTINUE IN OUR PURSUIT OF THAT SPECIAL GRAD NIGHT EVENT!
